HARFANG DISCOVERS MORE GOLD-RICH OCCURRENCES ON ITS SERPENT PROJECT, JAMES BAY (QUÉBEC)

By Harfang Exploration

Montréal, November 7, 2018. Harfang Exploration Inc. (“Harfang”) (TSX-V: HAR) is pleased to report that fieldwork conducted during Fall on its Serpent Project returned more gold-rich rock samples in the vicinity of the Langelier and Mista showings (see attached figures). Two grab samples grading 33.84 g/t and 6.17 g/t Au were collected from a newly-discovered shear zone parallel to the known Langelier gold-bearing structure. Another sample collected in sheared tonalite some 300 m south of Mista showing returned 21.91 g/t Au. Grab samples are selected samples and are not necessarily representative of the mineralization enclosed on the property. These results demonstrate that more exploration work, including prospecting, needs to be accomplished on this vast underexplored property.

The Mista showing refers to a WNW-ESE mineralized structure mapped over at least 280 m. Channel sampling returned 1.12% Cu, 0.23 g/t Au and 8.68 g/t Ag over 10 m, including 2.09% Cu, 0.45 g/t Au and 16.4 g/t Ag over 4 m (see October 11, 2018 press release). Additional fieldwork showed that sulfides (mainly chalcopyrite) are not solely hosted in quartz veins but also occur in highly-sheared and metamorphosed tonalitic, gabbroic and altered quartzo-feldspathic sedimentary rocks. The new 21.91 g/t Au sample was collected in a sheared hematized tonalite filled with quartz veinlets associated to a structure subparallel to the Mista corridor located 300 m to the north.

The Langelier showing corresponds to an ENE-WSW shear zone hosted in foliated to gneissic quartz-bearing diorite. The outcropping shear zone is at least 75 m long and up to 2 m wide. Folded and boudinaged quartz veins included into the shear zone returned 91.48 g/t Au over 0.45 m (channeling) and 17.79 and 54.75 g/t Au (grab samples) and contain visible gold. The new gold-rich samples were collected from a similar structural setting in another shear zone located 20 m to the north.

Moreover, fieldwork completed in October allowed to collect 27 till samples spaced 500 m apart in a 2.5 km x 2.0 km grid around Mista. Also, 49 B-horizon soil samples were collected along lines positioned over the Mista and Langelier showings. These two small-scale geochemical surveys (till and soil) were planned and executed to test the chemical signature of the showings and the glacial dispersion train of gold and other pathfinder minerals. All samples were sent to Overburden Drilling Management (Nepean, Ontario) and ALS Chemex (Val-d’Or, Québec). Analytical results are pending. We look forward for these results as they may give valuable information to find possible lateral extension of mineralized zones under the overburden.

Motivated by these results, Harfang plans to be very active on the project in 2019 beginning as early as the winter season with an induced polarization and resistivity survey in the Mista area. During the summer period, more prospecting and geological mapping will be accomplished along the kilometric long structural corridors outlined so far on the property. Depending on the results of our small-scale till and soil tests, we could decide to extend these geochemical surveys over a much wider area. Uncommon in the James Bay territory, this type of mineralization could represent a new metallogenic setting.

About the Serpent Property

The Serpent Property, wholly owned by Harfang, contains 255 claims covering 13,197 ha. It is divided into two blocks of claims. The property is located 80 km SSE of the Radisson locality and only 10 km east of the James Bay Road. Its eastern limit is contiguous with the Sakami gold Project (Quebec Precious Metals Corporation). Lithologies are dominantly associated to the Langelier Complex which includes foliated and gneissic tonalite and diorite interpreted as the Archean crustal basement onto which volcano-sedimentary assemblages were deposited.

Quality Control

All rock samples were sent to Laboratoire Expert (Rouyn-Noranda) to be analyzed for chemical elements Au-Ag-Cu-Zn-Pb. These five elements were analyzed by atomic absorption following pyroanalysis for gold and four acid total digestion for other metals. Samples with gold values above 1 g/t were reanalysed by gravimetry. The sampling procedure and interpretation of the results were done by qualified employees using a QAQC program conformed to the best practices in the industry including the use of standards and blanks.
